Bollinger Canyon Elementary School is home to the Bulldogs. They are a school of about 500 students who are proud to follow The Bulldog Way of Safe, Respectful and Responsible.
Their staff work tirelessly to provide students with 21st-century education that focuses on literacy, character development and a deep commitment to learning. They have the Character Trait of the Month, which is supported by the school-wide Book of the Month and the monthly Flag Salute. They believe in the differentiation of instruction, small group intervention and the study of data in order to promote their knowledge and practice.
They are strongly supported by their parent community through the PTA, the Bulldog Fund and the Site Council. They are able to fund extras such as K-5 music, specialized art lessons, computer lab assistants, librarians and classroom support through para-educators because of the generous donation and fundraising efforts made by their families.
They host seven classes of students with severe autism and other developmental and medical needs. They feel blessed to teach and learn from these special students who offer unique opportunities for communication and discovery. Bollinger Canyon serves the community of San Ramon, bordering Bollinger Canyon Road west of Interstate 680. The surrounding community consists mainly of single-family homes, with a limited number of apartments and condominiums.
The Rainbow Program
The Rainbow Program is a research-based early intervention program aimed at the following objectives:
- Helping students get a good start to school
- Development and enhancement of social skills
- Promoting a healthy self-concept
- Improving the school adaptation
- Development of leadership skills
- Assisting transitions in life
The Rainbow Program is available at all San Ramon Valley Unified School District Elementary School sites. Para-professionals are trained and trained to work with students in the program. Each week, para-professionals meet with the School Psychologist to consult students in the program.
