Sycamore Valley Park

Sycamore Valley Park has a children’s play area with a popular recreational fountain, a reflection pond with a waterfall, and a jogging path that meanders through the park, located at Holbrook Drive and Camino Tassajara.

Eight picnic tables and barbecue pits are included in the picnic area next to the baseball diamonds (entrance at Sherburne Hills Drive). Moreover, next to the bocce ball courts, a new community picnic area has been added that can accommodate up to 65 people.

For those hot summer days, a shade framework was also added to the bocce ball courts. Children of all ages have enjoyed new play equipment, including newly added slides, swings, and climbers, as well as the water feature for children in the play area.

On Sherburne Hills Lane, the Sycamore Valley Park parking lot has accessible wheelchair toilets, drinking fountains, and parking spaces.

Take the Sycamore Valley Road exit from I-680 in San Ramon and head east. Camino Tassajara becomes Sycamore Valley Lane. Continue to Holbrook Drive along Camino Tassajara. On Holbrook Drive, turn left and park in the staging area.

One thing Danville San Ramon did was think smart back in the early 80s, in the late 70s, expecting a construction boom … they set aside enough land for parks, jogging/biking trails, soccer fields, and minor league fields. Those towns are packed with them.

Sycamore is a wonderful outdoor bocce ballpark, children’s playground, a minor league with all fields of grass and turf.

The upper fields look up to the hillsides with cows grazing, (every time I looked up at them, I kept dreaming of Carne Asada or Filet Mignon), a gentle breeze also seemed to blow up there. It looks down on the lower areas on the opposite side. The two are separated by beautiful, healthy-looking trees that have provided the upper fields some shade relief.

With upkeep, no garbage, clean sidewalks, etc etc., it was almost immaculate. TRULY well held.

The courts of the Bocce Ball were pristine, the fields of soccer grass were well-groomed and the little field was spotless.

This is certainly one of the standouts in a town full of GREAT parks. A large playground with areas for different age groups, a bocce court (for the elderly), a grassy field with a pond, and a Massive multi-purpose synthetic turf field for soccer games, baseball, field hockey, etc. A starting point for a very pleasant series of trails that wander the surrounding hills is on the north side of the park.

Whether it’s a friend from school or someone new, boys will always find someone their age to play with. With their Starbucks cups, yoga pants, and smartphones, the park benches are still full of lovely Danville mothers.

Except for busy events on the athletic fields, facilities are often clean and safe and parking is generally available. Go grab a latte and take a look at it!
